This bespoke attic home office was designed remotely for a client in the North of England, using our virtual interior design service. The brief: create a nautical-inspired space with a central desk, plenty of storage, and a blackboard for creative thinking.
Our design approach embraced the character of the attic, making smart use of its angles and natural light. The scheme is softly coastal, with deep navy blues, creamy whites, and vibrant touches of red to create a calm yet energising space ideal for focused work. A central feature wall with a hand-painted-style ocean wallpaper framed in deep wood sets a serene tone, bringing in a sense of depth and stillness.
To address storage without overloading the visual flow, we proposed curtained alcoves, concealing awkward eaves space while enhancing texture and improving acoustics. The eaves door was transformed with blackboard paint, giving the client a simple and effective area for notes and ideas.
As requested, the desk is positioned in the centre of the room, complete with seahorse handles and rope detailing to subtly reinforce the nautical theme. Discreet cable management was factored into the concept, ensuring practicality alongside style. The back of the room features new fitted cabinetry to add long-term storage and balance the layout.
This virtual interior design project demonstrates how remote collaboration can still produce highly personalised and practical results. With careful planning and creative thinking, this attic office is now a functional and uplifting place to work, even on the greyest of days.
